SCIENCE CLUB 2005In 2005, Dr Kay Yeoman from the School of Biological Sciences and Mrs Jane Dye from Avenue Middle School, Norwich were successful in their bid for a Royal Society Partnership grant, to run a 12 week science club for year 7 pupils. The overall theme of the club was to investigate the happy relationship which exists between a bacterium called Rhizobium leguminosarum, and a pea plant. Along the way, pupils learnt about microorganisms and the techniques involved in culturing them. They learnt about the structure of DNA, and how to isolate this molecule from plants and bacteria. They also learnt how to analyse DNA using DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. VIEW POSTER (PDF 112K)
