Email and messaging
systems
Communication in the modern office can be greatly enhanced by the use of messaging systems such as Microsoft’s Exchange Server. Some of the functions made possible by messaging systems are:
Electronic mail (Email) – Each user can
store their contact's details, such as email address, telephone
number etc in their private address book, and if desired these contact
details can also be shared with colleagues through the use of shared
address books.
Task management – When using Microsoft Outlook
as the client software each user is provided with a task management
facility, which allows the recording, prioritising and monitoring
of current tasks and projects. These tasks can be sent and assigned
to colleagues and the status of each task can be automatically tracked.
It is also possible to send an automatically generated task status
report as an email message.
Scheduling – Each user in your organisation
can have their own calendar on which appointments can be scheduled
using client software such as Microsoft Outlook. You can also invite
colleagues to events using email and if accepted the event is automatically
entered into their calendar. Calendars can also be shared between
two or more colleagues.
Public folders – These are a very effective method of sharing information within your organisation. Amongst other things they can be used as electronic notice-boards, to which events and notices can be posted using Microsoft Outlook.
Users can access and fully utilise their email etc using client
software such as Microsoft Outlook, and should they be out of the
office a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer can be
used to gain access over the internet.
Adept are Exchange Server specialists and also supply and configure
other messaging systems if desired, and if you are currently using
an alternative messaging system it is highly likely that this can
be integrated into, or linked to, Exchange Server.
